about

C is a unique Coppice Halifax release that is somewhere between and EP and an album. It is something that, were the Milieu Music budget to allow it, would ideally be released on 12" vinyl. Heavily inspired by psychedelic techno works by Dettinger and Jonas Bering in the early days of Kompakt, as well as newer synth-led music like Luke Abbott. C contains three tracks, which is no small coincidence considering my longtime fascination with threes and conceptual symmetries working their way into music. The music is a well seasoned blend of minimal grooves and textural pitter-patter anchoring a cloud cover of pads and chords that get so bright it almost sounds like a panic attack at times. There's also some nice thick arpy basslines and some unique rhythmic sounds that were created with samples of fireworks and rocks breaking beneath a hammer. A large emphasis has been placed on live mixing and micro-shifts in delay rates and saturations, flanging, panning and other processing, rather than compositional movements.

Available only on a limited edition of 50 copies packaged in black or white cardboard jackets with red or white foam sticker covers.
