James Shain If the Leaf Cloak era and the Analog Botany era of CH had a baby, this is the album you'd get. Elements of both eras are present on this album with drifting atmospheres and subtle beatwork. A must have in any Ambient Techno collection! Favorite track: BA6716.

about

Narcotic Months, as the name suggests, is a series of works Brian recorded over about two years. Presented in three sections, it could be said that Narcotic Months' five pieces are really only one piece of music - created, reworked, stripped-down, rebuilt, renewed, transposed and reimagined over five different iterations. Rather than give this concept different titles that might allude to their recording dates or locations, Brian has opted to only imply the intended color of each piece in his titles. Musically, Narcotic Months is one of many projects (another being WR's Pacific Opal Hex) that were created and subsequently separated from a provenance of material known only as Whitehope, which may or may not ever be released. It bears many of the current trademarks of the Coppice Halifax sound palate, such as bubbly organic rhythms and spacious landscapes of reverb and delay, covered with textural rainfall and prismatic analog snow. Perhaps the most obvious influences on Narcotic Months would have been Pub and Vladislav Delay's earlier works, but there are also traces of things like early AFX and possibly even Brian's own work with David Tagg as the duo SEAS. Second edition of 50 copies on standard CD-R with two exclusive new bonus tracks (#6 and #7), packaged in clear plastic sleeves with optical illusion line-print inserts and custom ink stamping.
