no-nonsense Handy album-length introduction to the drone techno of the Verdant Acre series. Depth and intensity build up, showing some care has been put into the sequencing, Favorite track: 6/3.

Ondrej Bahno Absolutely unique swampy, dusty, heavy tonage industrial techno. Played about 1000 times to this day. Favorite track: 5/1.

about

Now that the sixth of six volumes have been issued, and the long-running Verdant Acre series is over (or is it?), it only made sense to fashion a collector's box with which to contain the complete set. The Verdant Acre box set is a recycled cardboard box measuring 6x5x1 inches, bearing green text decals, hand numbering and six photographs of mutated Verdant landscapes. It contains all six volumes of the series, unabridged and repackaged in a new design that lends more cohesion with the box itself, making this assemblage both a nice looking item for your record shelf as well as a massive amount of essential Coppice Halifax listening. Totaling 37 tracks spread across seven discs, with a runtime of nearly eight hours, the Verdant Acre box set is packed to the brim with dense ambient techno from the humid heart of South Carolina.

The seventh disc, Verdant Versions, was created with the same concept as Basic Channel's BCD compilation disc in mind - one track selected from each of the six Acre volumes, and presented here in a more dancefloor-friendly iteration. The Versions tracks may bear recognizable resemblance to their originals, however listeners will note several differences...slower or faster tempos, EQ changes, re-mixed layers of sound and even additional bass and percussion elements have been recorded especially for these mutations. Verdant Versions provides yet one more step into the Acre, and accurately sums up many of the series' strongest moments.

As a consideration to the listeners who have already purchased volumes 1 through 6 separately, this box is being made available in two formats: filled with all 6 volumes, plus the Verdant Versions disc, or empty (the box and Verdant Versions only). Only the empty format features Verdant Versions on a black CD-R (like the previously released six volumes), while the filled box's contents have been pressed to standard CD-Rs, making the first editions that much more collectible.
