The fifteenth volume of Coppice Halifax remix commissions has arrived, bringing with it fifty-two minutes of analog botany across five tracks.

Opening the proceedings this time is a previously unreleased cut called 'Masted Arc' that was initially recorded in 2018, and final-glossed in 2023. It originated as a jam built using the Cedar Mast samples (from the Sega Dreamcast) alongside a Korg KPR-77 drum machine from 1983, but was finished using a myriad of different devices, such as the Boss DR-110 and Yamaha MR-10 drum machines, alongside several digital synthesizers and FX boxes.

From there, a hidden bonus track from Adrien75's 2018 'Is Still Alive' album injects a subtropical sleaze into the album, with the Beach Fuzz mix of 'Hawaiian Ring Drum Rum.' This cut recalls Halifaxian recordings like High Hawaiian Fog and Coastal Reveries, while also nodding to classic Adrien75 records like 'Coastal Acces' and the 757 LP.

Continuing the tidal pull to the horizon line is the CH version of 'One Thousand Dances' from Magic Arrows' absolutely essential album Sweet Heavenly Angel of Death. I was graciously invited to remaster the expanded reissue of the album in the Summer of 2019, and Mr. Arrows preferred that I do a new mix of 'One Thousand Dances' in order to replace the original mix on the reissue. I protested at the time, as I have long felt that Angel of Death was and is a perfect album, but all the same, no one knows what they want more than the artist, and so this mix came to be. It was built, as all CH mixes are, by sampling only the source material, with no new gear or samples of my own being used, so my 'One Thousand Dances' mix offered here is quite literally just a rearranging of the Magic Arrows DNA, albeit with a bit of a Wobbly worship going on throughout.

Next up, a night-time bus ride of melancholic techno, in a lovingly made version of 'Duskfriends' by Dusklark, one of my closest friends and a fantastically talented mind. There's a little bit of 85-92 in this mix, but there's also a lot of other things, and none of it would be there without the strains of almost-sadness running through Dusklark's moody movements. This mix remains a personal favorite of mine, and I'm excited to finally include it in the Cmx series here.

Closing the set is the 17-minute Evaporant mix of Goran Geto's 'Atmosfera' from 2018's 'Atmosfera Jedan' album. This mix was originally released with some very different mastering, done by the late Geto himself, and I've always wanted to publish my original session because of how much more humid and warm it sounded. Here, it beautifully dovetails a set of psychedelic bedroom techno music, with lush sweeps of white noise and spattered dub textures over chordal shapes and subdued rhythms.

Altogether, it's impressive to me that in addition to all of the work I've published, that there could be this many volumes alone of CH remixes, and still more not yet collected here too. With the release of XV, a second 8xCD Cmx box set is now possible, and a cumulative release collecting volumes VIII-XV will soon arrive. For now, I hope you enjoy this unexpected album made from my own work and the work of four other talented producers, as an accompaniment to the late-Spring and early-Summer weather.
