To emphasize the image aspect of the De-Sat variants (which define and direct the Autochromata series and concept), it felt appropriate to experiment with visual representations of the printing capacities of the machines that routinely produce Milieu Music objects. Here, printer heads on two different machines were aligned, their outputs collected and arranged via papercutter and used to frame an alternate beatless low-resolution mix of the recent Autochromata III iteration of De-Sat. Additionally, printer color details were taken from the boxes of bubble mailers used by the label to routinely ship Milieu Music releases to your home, and cut down to be used as album inserts. This piece is, like the recent Ashcan Editions of catalog works, a perfect example of the artist's desire to upcycle materials that might otherwise be discarded, nodding slightly to many artists from past decades (such as those in the Dadaist and Fluxus schools of thought) who used everyday materials to create art that became elevated above the mundane to the mystical, simply by drawing a deliberate frame around it. The true physical article that these items might be a testing run for does not exist - only this proof of concept. To support this idea, the digital version of the sonic content on this disc will only itself be released once the physical copies of this are gone. Until then, it too only exists in a supposition.
Four copies of this release have been produced, with three being made available for sale here. More eventually may come to exist as time passes, and as new materials collect and give me ideas, but even those ambiguous pieces will certainly bear significant differences in tone, scale and sonic palette compared with these initial proofs.
**UPDATE: The first three copies have sold out, so the recording has now been issued digitally, as promised. Additionally, after a few requests were made, another 4 copy print run has been issued, with different colored artwork and different stickers.
