about

Halifaxian is a carefully constructed work that serves both as a minimal techno album, inspired by artists such as Plastikman, Maurizio, Studio 1, Motor and Pole, and a DJ tool, seamlessly mixed from track to track, with the first track playing at 140 beats-per-minute and each track following at exactly 1 BPM less. It was initially intended to tie together all of the Analog Botany series recordings in a Coppice Halifax live set (and this practice can be heard on Endless Acre) but by the end of the recording, Halifaxian had asserted itself as an album with its own identity. Keen listeners may recognize the wealth of CH drum sounds and loops at play here, along with many different applications of drum machine hardware that I have become so fond of through the years. Additionally, this album inadvertantly gave way to the creation of the Bike moniker, and looking back, there are certainly traces of primordial Bike in these recordings too.
