The second set of Pharmlands sessions, like the first, were built out of a long and convoluted process, transfiguring the raw chordal oceans of the fourth year of Workingman's Drone into something more dubbed and psychedelic. Using adjacent utilities, like a Yamaha RX11 drum machine, and multiple samplers (Korg Volca, Korg ES-1, Akai S2800) it was possible to return to the "template" I established with the first Pharmlands session, migrating the new drone composts into a familiar setting, and seeing what sprung forth from the Urth. In this way, Pharmlands II directly resumes where Pharmlands left us before, like a reliable harvester machine, freshly oiled and pump-primed, blades sharpened, ready to reap another season's golden fields along a well-tread path in the dirt.

Longtime listeners will find a wealth of sonic landscaping here, with plenty of sub-bass tropicalia to recall past lives such as Ocean Lion, Verdant Acre, Green Shape and Ferrolog. The wash of detritus and filtered noise that shimmers around the soundwaves may also bring to mind Impressionistic jaunts such as Dripping Earth and Static Pharming - the latter being a de-facto influence in breaking ground on Pharmlands to begin with. Pharmlands recordings are designed with a flexible listening utility in mind - loud volumes, low volumes, headphones or open-air acoustics. It bends and melts according to the space it inhabits, and I am happy to let it carry me where it will.
