Abide Serene Brian rules my sonic realm. Glad to be able to support, if even a little. This album is charged up w expanded yet grounded orgonic sublimations. Sonic shamanism, at I believe, the worlds finest. But also I live under a rock willingly. Favorite track: Selectric.

about

In the wake of completing the monolithic 24-part Dripping Earth project, my mind was positively burned out. For a solid week, I did nothing musical, and reset my ears with field recordings. So upon reentering the studio and turning my machines on, the idea to do something short and sweet - an EP perhaps - became an attractive possibility. As with all things I do, once I start, it becomes difficult to stop, because my brain is constantly entertaining the "What if?" and the "Maybe". A mountain is literally and routinely made from a mole-hill, and once again I am off on a tangent...

Photovoltaic began as a one-shot session, the 18 minute track "Selectric". Built from pieces leftover from the Dripping Earth recordings - a loop here, a stored pattern there - it felt fresh. It was only after I began tearing apart the session recording and playing with FFT processing that I began to expand on the initial idea. Treatments were applied, segments were cut, and another three sessions later, Photovoltaic was its own album with its own identity.

Topically, it sounds like it would fit right into the Static Pharming template, however upon closer inspection you will find a colorful array of alien sound design, mangled field recordings and strange, overly complicated and stupidly detailed digital post-processing. In the end, the four fragments feel somewhat linked as if they are each a season of the year, each filled with different wind and weather and sound.

**The physical edition of P.F. is a strictly limited run of 24 copies, each containing a different set of cutting-room-floor extracts from Dripping Earth's photograph prints, as well as a hand-stamped and numbered paperstock slip. Ashes!
