RAINTHAW is a 67-minute deep and dubby techno excavation of ICE GHOSTS, an ambient recording by close friend, influence and longtime collaborator PARALLELISM.

Sometime in 2018, I was commissioned by Moody Drones to record a Coppice Halifax remix for an upcoming remix release for Ice Ghosts, and by that July, I'd produced a more modest 12-minute remix and this extended rework. For one reason or another (there are always lots in the record label and publishing world) the remix release did not materialize, but I was given the blessing to issue this deep cut shortly after offering it to Moody Drones and Parallelism, and it seems appropriate to release it now, as Autumn begins to lie down beneath a blanket of Winter. I've done many different remixes for the man behind Parallelism, and perhaps one day they can all be collected into a single set, but for now, Rainthaw stands as yet another example of the beautiful spaces our individual musical approaches can share with one another, when time and circumstance allow.

RAINTHAW as a recording would appeal to fans of my more longform tracks on sets like ARBORIST'S EXCAVATIONS and DEEP WORKS, as well as seasonally connected works such as ICE FOREST, SNOW VESSEL and GREEN SHAPE. There are also subtle connections to recordings like URCEOLATMOSPHERION, SPRINGTHAW and WINTERTHAW.
