about

FROM THE LABEL, 2011: "Coppice Halifax's Vapor Acre features nearly 80 minutes of dense hypnotic dub-techno bathed in warm synth washes and cool field recordings. A sound-scape ideal for spaced out extended relaxation. Also featuring two massive remixes by Ndru and Radere."

FROM THE ARTIST, 2020: "Vapor Acre is a collection of tracks that were somewhat tangential explorations recorded after the Analog Botany series and Pawleys Island sessions came to a close. At the time, I was using "acre" as a shorthand descriptor for the process and structure of these recordings, much like bluesmen used the word "blues" or rave music used the term "acid." Each Acre offered a view of a place and time, usually influenced by temperature and elemental forces, and other tracks laid to tape within this ethos were issued on split releases with Ohrwert and Axs at the time. Thematically, I was also conscious of these pieces' relation to (and differentiation from) Verdant Acre, which was being recorded at the same moment in time.

As these tracks were recorded at the very end of my time in the Rolling Knoll studio, a small CD-R was released containing five of them, sent out as a bonus promotional item with orders shipped from Milieu Music at the time. The WR cassette release expanded Vapor Acre to six original tracks, augmented by two new extended remixes by Ndru and Radere (the latter of whom I released a split CD-R with titled ABX2 in 2009). The first edition of the tape went out of print, and a second edition with different colored labels shipped with a bonus digital download of "VSS Acre", the only cut in this set recorded at Botany Bay. All nine tracks have been assembled here, and stand solidly as a monument that exists somewhere between Analog Botany, Leaf Cloak and Verdant Acre."
