about

The fifth section of the Acre picks up exactly where we left off in Verdant Acre volume four. Dense layers of looped vinyl detritus climb like vines wrapping themselves around a static drum phrase. Clicks, crackles and fuzz fill in the empty holes of the rhythm and once more, the Acre is proving to us just how alive and wild it really is. A fog approaches, carrying the familiar drowned horns of the darker, murkier parts of the Acre. The sun is setting on us and it slowly occurs to us that we are completely lost in the forest...and yet, the black earthy rhythm plods forward into the steadily burnt up evening. Reverb trails coat all we see and hear (and feel) with the glossy dew that will no doubt be visible in the morning. We frantically locate a dry canopy that feels isolated and safe enough, and lay down our bedroll to get some sleep. As we drift off, stolen away by night's silent armies, we smell the soft and salty perfume of the sea, and somehow, we can hear the waves too. Perhaps tomorrow's expedition will reveal the blue horizon line we so long to see...
