The second movement (or lack thereof) in the until-now-unannounced series of albums bearing the SOLUS designate, Solus 2 reports in 22 months after Solus departed our air space. Presently it is still possible to hear the kickdrum-like heartbeat throughout the transmission - a required element in this project, allowing the Botany Bay machines to accurately and intelligently decipher the data packets received from the Solus vessel, which by now has reached the area just outside of Jupiter, steering just close enough to remain safely outside of the red giant's gargantuan pull. Beneath the pulse, the true nature of Solus' explorations are revealed - strange tonalities and extended periods of resonant mid and upper range frequencies, punctuated occasionally by sounds that, were I to not know any better, would take for human speech. Interestingly, different elements of the recording itself can be perceived upon repeat listens, especially at different volume levels. The application of outside ambient and white noise is also illuminating, bringing out overtones that were otherwise invisible to the human ear. This strange aural phenomenon is almost totally unexplained, but the Solus initiative continues forward into space and into the future, embracing whatever (or whoever) may come.
The classic Milieu sound can be found on this 2009 album. Psychedelic haze dripped over warped electronic pop songs from another dimension. Coppice Halifax
